This is perfect for anyone who has just found the podcast like me as well as anyone who has been a long time listener I loved getting the brief commentary chapters before each episode and the illustrations were and added bonus Huge thanks to Harper Perennial for sending me the arcs

Honestly, a written format of the Night Vale podcasts seemed pretty dull before I picked it up They re definitely meant to be listened to, not to be read But I found myself enjoying getting to relive every moment There s also fantastic bonus content before each episode with a short dialogue from the creators and contributors Interesting and fun all around I can even hear Cecil s voice with the narration.

This is the most I have ever debated with myself on a book rating, and in the end I took a coward s way out and chose the middle option This is a 5 star book This is a 1 star book I really do not know what to do with it.On one hand The entire first year of Welcome to Night Vale is contained in these pages WtNV is a phenomenal podcast about a very strange desert town where every conspiracy theory ever is just another normal day I once saw it described as Lovecraft, Stephen King and Neil Gaiman cr [...]

And listeners Night Vale is an ancient place, full of history and secrets, as we were reminded today But it is also a place of the present moment, full of life, and of us If you can hear my voice, speaking live, then you know We are not history yet We are happening now, How miraculous is that Utterly bizarre yet somehow surprisingly profound and interspersed with philosophical gems , this collection is a must for fans of the podcast I basically read this entire thing with the gloriously deep, so [...]

I thought this book would bring new stories but it only contains season 1 podcast transcripts The desert seems vast, even endless, and yet scientists tell us that somewhere, even now, there is snow.WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE.

We understand the lights We understand the lights above the Arby s We understand so much But the sky behind those lights, mostly void, partially stars, that sky reminds us We don t understand even This was such a good compilation of the Night Vale podcasts It s strange reading it and not actually listening to it, but the mood and atmosphere is still really obvious throughout There are some beautiful illustrations too and each podcast opens with a small note talking about the episode s productio [...]

For perhaps the first time in history a couple of books have been created, written and brought together for every single conceivable type of fan, but you ll have to read to the end of this review to find out exactly how I am talking of Mostly Void, Partially Stars and The Great Glowing Coils of the Universe that collect all the episodes for season one the former and season two the latter of one of the most popular podcast shows in history I am talking, of course, about Welcome to Night Vale, whi [...]

Have you ever listened to a podcast Depending on whether you have or not, you may or may not know that Welcome to Night Vale is one of the podcasting phenomena of recent years It has an estimated 400 000 listeners to each twice monthly podcast, and over 100 million downloads on iTunes. What Night Vale does is effectively dip into the world of the serial thriller It deliberately echoes the old radio shows of the 1930 s and 40 s, though it is set in a contemporary world Like Lights Out, Suspense or [...]

I ll be honest even if this had been just a collection of the scripts, I still would have loved this book. The best way to appreciate this podcast is by listening to Cecil Baldwin s wonderful performances But at least for me sometimes lines or information end up slipping through the cracks when you re just listening I can t really just listen to something it s why I don t do audio books When I watch movies, I need to be doing something else in order to focus on the movie And I know that sounds ki [...]

Only a quick review Welcome to Night Vale started off as a podcast that still continues to this day It is narrated by radio presenter Cecil, who tells us the goings on in his strange town, Night Vale There is Cecil himself and his Desert Bluffs doppelg nger, Carlos, the beautiful scientist who Cecil immediately falls in love with, Old Woman Josie who lives with angels, the Dog Park that no dog or person should enter or they will face the wrath of the mysterious hooded figures It is filled with f [...]

Review under construction My obsession, let me share it with you They are releasing the scripts for the episodes as books, so now I have a place to park some notes on the first two seasons of WTNV s community radio broadcast Right now I m just pulling together the episode descriptions, with the intent to add links to the weather and put in the proverb for each episode often my own favorite part of the show Once the book is out, I will add comments on the extras, and begin my relisten of the firs [...]

I first fell in love with Welcome to Night Vale in spring 2013 I loved the dog park, I loved Carlos perfect hair, I loved the tiny city marching up from the bowels of a small town bowling alley There was just one problem I have never been good at listening to podcasts I don t enjoy it I m an anxious person, and I need to multi task I need to be doing something with my hands as I listen It s why I love reading and walking so much So after around 10 episodes of dedicated listening, and then a brie [...]

I adored this book, but unfortunately I can t really recommend it to anyone who isn t already a fan of Night Vale Not for pretentious annoying fan reasons, God forbid, but purely because part of the series s true potentially hypnotic charm is the narration, the music and the overall amazing production value. However, as a fan wanting to relive the charm and content of the podcast, but not necessarily having time to listen to each episode again, this was as perfect as Carlos.Sometimes hilarious, c [...]

So this is basically just the scripts from the show, but it s still Welcome to Night Vale The behind the scenes intros was cool Some were better than others, though However, I would still recommend the podcast over this Hearing the actor s voices makes all the difference, but this is a nice thing to have on your shelf if you re a Night Vale fan.

Ah, Night Vale A town of mystery A town of magic A town like Twin Peaks with a heavy dose of H P Lovecraft and a dash of X Files A town full of mysterious sights that definitely no one saw and strange thoughts that in no way occurred to anyone, because all of us are normal, and to be otherwise would make us outcasts from our own community Remember if you see something, say nothing, and drink to forget That Night Vale If you ve ever heard Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor s brilliant Welcome to Nigh [...]

Time is like wax, dripping from a candle flame In the moment, it is molten and falling, with the capability to transform into any shape Then the moment passes, and the wax hits the tabletop, and solidifies into the shape it will always be It becomes the past, a solid, single record of what happened, still holding in its wild curves and contours the potential of every shape it could have held It is impossible not to think of all the wild forms that wax now will never take.I love Night Vale and it [...]

I love Night Vale so much I almost want to live there murderous librarians, menacing secret agencies, World Government helicopters and ever looming menace be damned.I first started listening to the podcast around the time the second season was ending, introduced by the great Tumblr boom that swept the show to the top of the iTunes charts Since then, I ve attended both UK tours and have tickets for the third next month , penciled the 1st and 15th of every month into my diary so as to never miss a [...]

Mostly Void, Partially Stars by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor is a science fiction mystery book, although it fits in neither of those categories It introduces us to Night Vale, a town in the American Southwest where every conspiracy theory is true In this seemingly normal town This book is impossible to put down once you get trapped in the daily news reports of this strangely real town Although the book is presented in the form of news broadcasts given by an ordinary man, there is an underlying [...]

I love Welcome to Night Vale This was going to be a five star rating anyway, but I especially enjoyed reading the intros to every chapter Jeffrey Cranor and Joseph Fink do a great job of giving glimpses of the thought process behind WTNV without dispelling any of the magic of their creation I also enjoyed Jessica Heyworth s original artwork.I can t recommend enough listening to WTNV even if you don t like weird and creepy things Because this is a podcast that tells a story that transcends weird [...]
